Today is a special day. It is the combination of Taco Tuesday and Cinco De Mayo. As such we are going to teach you how to make some banging tacos.

First, grab a glass and fill it with 1 part lemon/lime juice. Then add 1 part of triple sec to the glass and finish with 2 parts of your tequila of choice. Add ice and stir the drink. If desired, shake the drink to really let the flavors get to know each other. Great, you now have a simple margarita that pairs really well with the food. Adjust the ratio to your own taste, add some salt, and let’s move on to the actual cooking.
Now, Drew and Kay grew up on taco seasoning from the packets and always thought they were pretty good. That was until Drew’s roommate always insisted on making his own and shared his recipe. It was better. Drew then vowed to never use a packet again. Kay’s step-dad also makes his own and introduced her to homemade seasoning. To make some good taco seasoning, it takes spices you probably have in your house. How we make it is simple:
- Garlic Powder
- Chili Powder
- Onion Powder
- Oregano
- Paprika
- Cumin
- Salt
- Pepper
- Red Pepper Flakes (optional for heat)
- Dried cilantro (optional)
- Corn starch (optional for thickness)
Now, we don’t measure the amounts so we go by taste. We know it sounds gross but tasting the spice mix is a good way to know how it’s going to turn out. Once you have the mix to your liking, cook the meat. Add your mix when the meat is done with a little bit of water (⅓ of a cup) and wait until the water is cooked out. With your own mixture, the meat tastes great. We like to add more garlic powder and up the heat with pepper flakes.

The final way to make the best tacos is to make your own tortillas. We like to make our own bread for things and we highly recommend it for others. Tortillas only require flour, water, and salt. Give it a shot when you can. The best tip we can give is to roll them out as thin as possible. Have a good Cinco De Mayo. (Also, if you need to, make another drink)
